Forum vs. Mailinglist

Postby Georg » Wed Apr 14, 2004 10:31 am

I wonder if the Yello-mailinglist will die away within the next weeks.
And I also wonder why it took so long that anybody made up a yello forum.
Thanks again Julz!!!

Yours,

Georg

It will probably fade away peacefully.
A forum is much better.

i don't know...

There are benefits to each one. The forum is much more organized but with the email you don't need to come here to see what's new.
Wasn't it you Georg that had a Y forum a long time ago? Or was it just for Trading and Selling?

List vs. Forum

Postby mrpulley » Thu Apr 15, 2004 7:45 am

I personally prefer the mailing list, as I don't have to be on line to read the messages. I prefer to spend my on-line time looking at web sites, leaving my off-line time tor the emails.

I don't know of any other Y-forum
I only created the "Ultimate Yello Pages"back in 1996, but
after leaving university the webspace has been deleted.

to mark: Its time for a flatrate internet-connection ;-)

Forgot to say that I´m so used to the forum idea, that is better for me.

I´m probably an active member on 12-13 different forums

Yeah I use a lot of forums also.
They are great for technical help I seek with webdesign or computer related trouble/help topics.

I like them both. But from some things I read in the email list - having a forum won't junk up space on anybody's email space. Sometimes tho, when my friends and family don't email me, I do feel a little bit of love to get a Yello email. Especially since folks around here are so good with names and have addressed me directly. Thanks!

just got a dissenting vote for the Yello forum from Nic on the Yello pages, he even dared to say 'good-bye Yello'!

I haven't unsubscribed from the list, and don't plan to either.
This way, I can get the best of both worlds.

I was a member of the mailinglist for years but stopped reading the mails, just too much text to view. I prefer forums, they are a 1000 times better and this phpbb2 sollution might just be the best forum form of them all. I even use it for my own webpage forum (not about Yello).
