Does Yello bother about Australia?

Postby Perthguy » Wed Sep 30, 2009 8:56 am

Does Yello even bother with releasing anything in Australia anymore? (Like the new CD) As getting nearer to the release date, Yello isn't even mentioned anywhere, not even shows specializing in electronic music. Is Australia such a small market compared to America, they just don't care about Australia.

I think Yello's record company doesn't bother to release anything outside Europe any more - The Eye took 2 years after the Europe release to appear in the US. (No idea what say Yello has in this decision.) The last Australian album released was Zebra - subsequent albums have appeared as imports in some of the bigger stores. The last local singles were Rubberbandman (2-tracks only, both album versions - naughty!), then Jingle Bells in 1995.

Funny thing though is as far as the iTunes store for Australia is concerned we actually have a lot more than America does. In fact, all that is missing is Motion Picture, Touch Yello, and Eccentrix. Although hopefully we will get these soon if the demand is there.

As for CD stores, unfortunately as mrpulley said we have not had a local release of any albums for quite some time.

But, I saw "The Eye" in JB HIFI. Maybe will get this one too.

Although there was no Australian release JB Hi-Fi are good for importing albums and that would be why you saw The Eye there. They import a lot of great albums from many artists and is why they can boast such a large catalogue. Like you said there is a good chance they will also bring Touch Yello here.

Why not? Yello should try Australia again (its been 15 years after all) At least we know why radio stations here don't play them. Its not because they ignore Yello music or don't play their music, its because they(Yello) don't release anything here and radio stations can't get the rights. (Is that right?) :?:

I’ve learned that Yello has no power as to where they release stuff. The record company is solely to blame!
