Yello to re-issue first 6 albums

Postby JonKamm » Tue Feb 08, 2005 3:36 pm

This is big news!

Jonas Wårstad announced the following:

Hello! Finally I have some good news: there are plans to re-issue
Yello's first six albums (Solid Pleasure to Flag) on CD in around
May this year. Boris is currently going through old tapes to see
if they are in good enough condition for this. Hopefully there will be
at least around four extra tracks on each album. I did send them a
suggested list of suitable extra tracks, but it's up to Yello to decide
what to include of course (this was the "interesting news" I have been
telling you about).
As for the book, I have completed about 90 pages in the main book.
In addition to this, I have completed the separate chapter about Dieter,
which is about 15 pages, and there will also be a separete discography
at the end. Plus of course photos too, which will increase the amount
of pages. I'm now on 1996, so not so much left, and the basic text for 1997
to
to now is alreday written but has to be re-edited, which usually takes time.
However there is still information I need from Yello office, like dates, before
I can say that the 90 pages are "finished".

All the best/Jonas

This is really good news. I hope the re-issues will all be remastered. The original sound of One Second really sucks. Any news of Baby being remastered?

I find it very strange you saying the sound quality of One Second Sucks. I know for the time that recording came out it was considered one of the best. I still think it sounds very good. But re-mastering it would be incredible also.

FROM JONAS TODAY:

Hello! I phoned Yello Office today, and was told that the preliminary
release date for the six remastered CDs is 12th September.

They have not, of course, been manufactured yet, but Yello have decided
which tracks will be added as extra tracks, after the original album tracks.
I did send Yello a complete list of "rare" tracks for each album, tracks that
fans would want (or even expect) as extra tracks, but not all of them were included,
simply becayse Yello didn't think they were good enough, or, in a few cases, because
they could not find the master tape or it was not in good enough condition.
While these extra tracks MAY change before the CDs will be manufactured,
it's not very likely, so I will list them here for you now.

SOLID PLEASURE - extra tracks:
15. Thrill Wave (from German soundtrack LP Jetzt und Alles, 1981)
16. I.T. Splash (Yello's first single, 1979)
17. Glue Head (B-side to I.T. Splash)
18. Smirak's Train (from German soundtrack LP Jetzt und Alles, 1981)
19. Bostich (12" mix, 1981)

CLARO QUE SI - extra tracks:
11. Tub Dub (from THE NEW MIX IN ONE GO, 1986)
12. She's Got a Gun (live at Palladium 1985) (B-side Goldrush, 1986)
13. Daily Disco (THE NEW MIX IN ONE GO mix, 1986)
14. The Evening's Young (THE NEW MIX IN ONE GO mix, 1986)
15. Pinball Cha Cha (UK 12" mix, 1982)
16. Desire for Desire (B-side German 12" You Gotta Say Yes.., 1983)

YOU GOTTA SAY YES TO ANOTHER EXCESS - extra tracks:
12. Base for Alec (originally B-side UK Lost Again single, 1983)
13. Rubber West (B-side I Love You, 1983)
14. You Gotta Say Yes... (special UK promo 12" version, 1983)
15. Live at the Roxy, New York, Dec. 1983 (edited 3.54 version)
16. Pumping Velvet (12" mix)
17. I Love You (12" mix) (shortened by Boris to 5.40)

STELLA - extra tracks:
12. Blue Nabou (B-side Vicious Games, 1985)
13. Oh Yeah (Indian Summer version) (B-side 12" Desire, 1985)
14. Desire (12" mix)
15. Vicious Games (12" mix)

ONE SECOND - extra tracks:
12. Goldrush II (12" mix, 1986)
13. Rhythm Divine (1992 "Essential" version)
14. Call It Love (12" mix, 1987)
15. Life Is a Snowball (from SNOWBALL promo CD, 1987)
16. Tool in Rose (B-side 12" Rhythm Divine, 1987)

FLAG - extra tracks:
10. The Race (Break Light Mix) (from "Eccentrix", 1999)
11. Wall Street Bongo (B-side Tied Up, 1988)
12. The Race (12" mix, 1988)

Best regards/Jonas W

I am guessing that "The Race (12" mix, 1988)" on the Flag CD will be the 13 minute version of "The Race"
Thats why there is only 3 extra songs on Flag.

Re-Releases

Postby omar » Mon May 09, 2005 12:39 pm

I agree. The entire catalogue should be re-issued along with bonus videos on each cd and perhaps even a comprehensive "Best Of" spanning two cds and perhaps even a dvd. Many people underestimate the popularity of Yello. There's still a demand for their music especially in the electronic arena and many artists such as Moby cite them as an influence.

Bonus Tracks

Postby pemachine » Mon May 09, 2005 1:24 pm

There are a few good items here for the bonus tracks, things that I previously did not have on CD, so therefore the only question which remains is whether these will be released in Canada. Somehow I doubt it, since the last two Yello albums were not distributed here, a major disappointment. it cost me an arm and a leg to special order Motion Picture from Europe almost 2 1/2 times the cost of the CD plus hidden charges :P , so unless some kind person on the list would like to take some of my money and make the purchase of these CD's and post them to me, I won't be buying them. :(

Which 12" version of Vicious Games will be on the Stella reissue as a bonus track?

The Vicious Remix or the US 12" mix?

Does the Vicious Remix appear on CD anywhere so far? It's my favorite mix.
