YELLO LIVE IN LONDON!

Postby JonKamm » Mon Sep 15, 2008 4:00 pm

From Ian Tregoning:

Just to let you know, YELLO will be performing live in London
next month. Yes, it's astonishing news. They're appearing at the
Frieze Art Show in Regents Park between October 14-18th to
promote their forthcoming album 'Ultra Delores'. They couldn't tell
me which date but i'd guess the 18th.

Ultra Delores. That's an interesting title. I wonder what sort of album art would go with that (well, not quite as much as I'm wondering what sort of music would go with that). I'm half tempted to go to London (from Canda) just to see that...of course, all odds say I won't... :( ...wait, I mean :o NEW YELLO!

I don't know. The first post says "delores", but that other thread says "dolores".

The officials from The Frieze Art Fair say they have planned nothing with Yello and are not aware of any performance. This does not mean it won't happen. It could simply mean this person has not heard of this plan. I have had no official confirmation from Yello Office. So at this time it is still a rumor. But the source of the original message was Ian Tregoning who has been an engineer and producer for Yello since the eighties. So it could be a plan that simply is not finalized yet or Yello does not want any info released yet. Till we hear from Yello Office it is up in the air.

That's what I figured.

Anyway, does anyone else think that this potential live show could involve that new version of Bostich that appeared in that Boris Blank interview a little while back? I get the feeling that this might be some sort of giant suite of classic Yello tracks & new material, like Live at The Roxy, but in the style of the new album.

I would hope so. I've wanted to buy a Fairlight ever since I saw that, even if it does cost the same as the average car.

This from Jonas Warstad:

==========================

Hello, I received some info now from Yello Office, I will quote:

"We have been invited to do a performance / video installation
at a private art event in London on October 18, and we are working on it.
More details later..."

I then asked:

"You say 'private' art event, does that mean fans can not pay to see it?
All fans want to know that of course, I assume many will travel far to see
Yello live."

The reply was:

"Access to the event might be impossible for non-invited.
We'll find out more about it."

So, still it's hanging in the air. Of course, after 13 years since Yello's
last performance (in 1995 at a rave festival Germany) I understand
that it's quite frustrating fur us fans to know that we may not be able to
see it.
But then again Yello Office never announced this as a public performance...
I wonder whether this will be done to "promote the forthcoming album"
(as Ian Tregoning said), it seems illiogical that they would "promote"
an entire album in one single private art-connected performance.
Maybe it's music that will not appear on the album?
Anyway I will let everyone know as soon as I hear anything.
Until then, Yello On
Regards, JW

From what I've heard, the arts festival they were to play at was an "invitation-only" type of thing, so chances are you wouldn't be able to get in. I recently read, however, that the festival won't even be happening anymore because of the state of the world economy. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

I can confirm that it is because of the economic situation around the world but not sure about the festival being canceled.
